Stanley takes some pictures with a Canon G12

September 23, 2016  •  14 Comments

Stan has learned how to use a camera and to shout out cheese as he presses the shutter.

He has a few of my old crappy point and shoot film cameras in his toy box to play with, but today I gave him my Canon G12. To be honest it's a pile of shit and it doesn't get used at all. It was probably a tip top camera back in the day but by today's standards it's not the best.

He wandered round the house and garden snapping away saying 'cheese' at everything. He even managed to switch the settings to 'sepia' at one point. I'm guessing he was feeling a bit pretentious and wanted to change the style of his shots. He looks through the viewfinder as well rather than use the LCD screen on the back.

After he had finished and started to press all the buttons to see what they did I whacked the memory card in the MacBook and had a look at the pics. He did pretty well!

What do you think? Is he any good? Is the dude a phot in the making or should he hang the camera up now and get back to watching Paw Patrol and colouring in?

As he walked around, I grabbed a few on my iPhone as well.

EDIT for the FAQ: The grass is fake it's a brand called Tiger Turf. The dining room table was from Habitat. (2509016)

EDIT: Here is his Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/stanleyrjones/

Here are a few more of him at work

Hope you enjoy the photos and I will keep you updated on his progress!

Brilliant, thanks!

Just as a bit of extra, I discovered this difference in perspective when I had a girlfriend who was almost a head lot shorter than me - that "opened my eye to a different world" too.

Would be nice to see Stanley's later photos too. You'll let him do this as he grows up, won't you...

Fantastic!!! Seeing the world from another perspective is great. Lest we forget we were children once. :)
Congratulations for the photos!!!

Congrats mate,

Your son shows a very remarkable talent for shooting pics.
Especially when it comes to taking pics on his mom's encouraging smile at him, and his dad at his working table.
Wonder whether you could bolster him to do some pics in 6 or 12 months time too, provided he would still have the interest of doing so.
